NLSDays 2026 brought the Nordic life science community together in Stockholm for two days of conversations, knowledge sharing and new connections. Linda Thunell, CEO of Arex Advisor, was there to meet with companies and industry colleagues, exchange perspectives and follow the discussions shaping the Nordic life science landscape. Here, she shares some of her reflections through a regulatory affairs lens.
From a regulatory affairs perspective, what should emerging biotech companies consider to make promising innovations reach patients?
– Having a regulatory strategy in place early is essential, but it is also important to consider the commercialisation pathway from the start. The regulatory activities and decisions made during development should support not only approval, but also what the company ultimately wants to achieve from a business and market perspective.
What do you think investors and potential partners expect from life science companies today beyond having strong science?
– I believe they expect developers to have a clear strategy for how their product will succeed in the market. What competition will they face, and what their product will be measured against. In addition, I think that investors and partners should expect developers to understand their regulatory risks and have a clear plan for how to manage them.
What was the overall sentiment at this year’s event, based on the discussions you had?
– One topic that came up in many conversations was whether the market has finally started to turn. Compared to last year’s NLSDays, there seemed to be a more optimistic atmosphere this year. I left the event with a positive feeling of anticipation about the year ahead.
