Six per cent change medicines use following social media advice

A survey by Novus, commissioned by the Swedish Medical Products Agency, found that six per cent of people in Sweden changed their use of medicines based on information from social media over the past year, with higher figures reported among men aged 65–84. The Agency is urging patients not to alter treatment without consulting healthcare or pharmacy professionals and to review the medicine’s package leaflet before making changes. Read more (in Swedish)

Tina Crafoord appointed Director at Swedish Medical Products Agency

Tina Crafoord has been appointed as a new Director at the Swedish Medical Products Agency and will take up the role on 18 August. She joins from the Public Health Agency of Sweden, where she currently leads work on vaccine recommendations and evidence reviews for national vaccination programmes. Read more (in Swedish)

NOMA updates procedures for joint European health technology assessments

NOMA has updated its health technology assessment procedures and documentation templates to reflect growing use of joint European assessments under the EU HTA Regulation. The changes support pharmaceutical companies with products falling within scope of the Regulation and aim to improve alignment with evolving European HTA processes. Read more
